Sound Mind:
Both parties should be of sound mind and capable of giving valid consent to the marriage.
Religion:
Under the Hindu Marriage Act, both parties must be Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, or Sikhs.
Under the Special Marriage Act, people of any religion or interfaith couples can register their marriage.
Documents Required for Marriage Registration:
1. Proof of Age (Birth certificate, passport, PAN card, or matriculation certificate).
2. Proof of Address (Aadhar card, voter ID, passport, or utility bills).
3. Photographs (Passport-sized photos of both the bride and groom).
4. Marriage Invitation Card or proof of marriage if already solemnized.
5. Affidavit stating the date of marriage, place of marriage, and nationality.
6. Witnesses (At least 2 to 3 witnesses are required, with their identity proof).
